Strawberry milk

Continuing on in this week's Strawberry Feast, I offer to you a very simple way to use up your strawberries and get some calcium in your diet: strawberry milk. I'm always looking out for your health, you know.

This is a great drink for the young (or young at heart). It took me back to my middle school days, when strawberry milk was my drink of choice. All you do is blitz strawberries, a little sugar, and some milk (any kind will probably do, but I used up my whole milk and it was delicious).

It gets foamy and real pink.

Chill it in a pitcher or add some ice cubes. Like almost all milk drinks (and all the best revenge), strawberry milk is a beverage best served ice-cold.

The picture doesn't do justice to the pinkness of this drink. It is very, very pink.
Drink it up, y'all!

Strawberry milk

1 quart hulled strawberries
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
3-4 cups milk (I used whole milk)

Blend strawberries with the sugar, vanilla, and a cup of the milk, until the strawberries are pretty liquefied. Add in the rest of the milk and continue blending until the milk is bright pink and foamy. Chill for at least an hour before serving and/or serve with a few ice cubes.

If you're particular about strawberry seeds in your milk, you can blend the berries first and then run then through a fine mesh strainer before blending it with the rest of the ingredients. I like the seeds (is that weird?) so I skip the straining.
